Never Happier to loose!!!
Well NC was one of the most intense experiences I have ever taken part of. It is definitely unique when compared to the other 22 conferences I have been to. My learning experience from NC wasn’t one from sessions or simulations. It was hands on learning for 5 continuous days.
As most of you know I was a candidate in the elections for MCP of AIESEC Canada. NC is the time when those elections take place. Since I haven’t even been to NC, never did public speaking nor talked in a mic before, I knew this was going to be an interesting challenge. An uphill challenge.
I spent most of the days stressing about and preparing for the elections block of the evening. After the elections block I partied with other delegates. This process has been repetitive all through out the conference.
Although, in AIESEC we always know that we are growing, we usually realize our growth after our mandate or term ends. Well at NC it was different. I realized my growth everyday. I was able to see myself improving in a variety of areas.
In life we have several moments where we start seeing things differently. One of those was at NPM in august when I read letters from the leadership team of AIESEC McMaster. It was really uplifting to see how much impact one can have on a group of individuals. Yet, this realization was minimal when compared to my realization at NC. The number of people I have inspired, the number of people that look up to me as a leader and finally the respect that I have within AIESEC gives me a great responsibility. A responsibility to continue impacting individuals and therefore impacting the world. I do plan to continue delivering on such a responsibility in and out of AIESEC with all humbleness. It’s a responsibility I am proud to have.
If I would sum up NC in a few words, I would say: I was never happier and probably will never be happier to loose in my life. All the personal gains definitely outweigh not getting the position.
I want to thank everyone who supported my decision to run for MCP. I won’t list names, those individuals know themselves. I will always be grateful for their support.
Araz I am proud to have you as my MCP.

Hola Assem!
I am in Tokyo's airport after some hours of non-sleep and being fed like like that was the last time I was gonna eat ever...
I checked your blog and see this comment:"I was never happier and probably will never be happier to loose in my life."
Allow me to say I do not think you lost. I think you did not get the position you applied for but:
- you stood up for what you believe
- you shared your vision and ideas with the entire plenary
- you learnt about yourself
- you challenged people's thoughts, and
- you certainly HAD FUN!
I think you did a great job and I wish you the BEST in your next steps in AIESEC (in Canada or aborad!) ;)
Chau Chau!
